POA Billboards Unveils New State-of-the-Art CBD Headquarters in Townsville
POA Billboards has officially opened its new headquarters in the heart of Townsville’s CBD — a major milestone for the company and a significant boost for the city’s ongoing revitalisation efforts. The event, attended by clients, partners, suppliers, and local leaders and officially opened by Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto, marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Australia’s largest regional outdoor advertising company.
The move into the former SafetyCulture building on Sturt Street follows POA’s acquisition of the high-profile site earlier this year. The property, purchased for $2.3 million plus GST, spans 975 square metres and has undergone an extensive transformation into a modern, New York-inspired workspace designed to elevate creativity, collaboration and employee wellbeing.
A Purpose-Built Creative Hub
The newly revitalised headquarters features:
- Polished concrete floors and exposed ceilings
- A 70?seat auditorium
- An indoor half?court basketball court
- A fully equipped kitchen
The redesign not only enhances operational capability but reflects POA’s commitment to providing a dynamic workplace that supports innovation and attracts top-tier talent. CEO and Managing Director Mitch James described the building as a “state-of-the-art, New York-style workspace” that reflects the company’s ethos of building high-profile brand presence for both POA and its clients.
And of course, no POA milestone would be complete without the watchful oversight of Hunter, our beloved Boston Terrier and official Chief Barketing Officer, who ensures team morale stays high and visitor pats are delivered on schedule.
Strengthening the Heart of the City
Almost 40 POA team members will now operate from the CBD location — a move welcomed by local business leaders. Property and economic analysts have noted the significance of reactivating previously vacant buildings within the city centre, emphasising the positive flow?on effects for local businesses and foot traffic.
POA’s presence reinforces the company’s deep connection to North Queensland. Founded in 1983 and still proudly family-owned, the business today has more than 2,000 billboard opportunities across Queensland and remains one of the only outdoor advertising companies that conducts all operations in-house — from construction to maintenance to design.
A Celebration Marked by Community Support
The official opening was a proud moment for the POA team, with local suppliers and partners contributing to the celebration. Attendees enjoyed hospitality from Otto’s Market Warrina and The Spirited Goat, live entertainment, by Brothas Entertainment, photography and videography capturing the energy of the milestone event.
The opening has also been reported by the Townsville Bulletin, highlighting the community’s strong interest in POA’s investment in the city and the broader significance of the CBD revitalisation.
Looking Ahead
With expanded capabilities, enhanced digital infrastructure, and a prime inner?city location, POA Billboards is better positioned than ever to deliver market-leading outdoor advertising solutions across Queensland.
As the company continues to grow, its commitment remains unchanged: supporting local communities, strengthening the region, and helping brands take ownership of the Queensland skyline.
